How To Make An Old Teacher Happy

Just send her a sweet email like this one I got yesterday!

Are you the same Lynn Guinn that taught at Willmore Elementary in Westminster, CA in the 80’s?  If you are, I was one of your students – I was in your fourth grade class and had you for 5th and 6th grade English.  I still have great memories of “Where the Red Fern Grows”, “A Wrinkle in Time” and all things Shakespeare.  I was student body Treasurer, Secretary and President while there.  I believe you also had my younger sister, Lisa in your classes.  Maybe you’ll remember that we had a bet once and you said that if you were wrong you would “eat your hat”.  Turned out you were wrong and you baked a cake in the shape of a hat for the class.  After peaking in elementary school, I went on to Stacy Intermediate, Garden Grove HS and UCLA (BA in English and JD).

If you are the same Lynn, just wanted to tell you that you were a wonderful teacher and still my favorite.  If you’re not the right person, sorry for the inconvenience and now you know about a great teacher.  Take care.

Now if that didn't bring tears to your eyes I don't know what would.
It certainly brought them to mine.
What a lovely note to receive. It must be wonderful to know that what you did does matter.

Lynn that is the greatest. Why doesn't it surprise me one bit that you had this sort of impact on someone.

I too was a student of yours but probably one of your worst.
Good thing we grow out of that stuff.
Even though my childhood was a bit of a mess, I really miss going to Willmore.
The teachers were great, and I remember the brownies at recess.
YUM!
I wonder what happened to Mr. Turrentine.

That man was such a good teacher.
If it weren't for him, I would have never made it through multiplication.
And he went pretty easy on me when he walked out into the field to see what we were doing way out in the corner.

When we noticed him coming, we got up and started towards him.

A few moments later, the assumed dud firecracker we were attempting to light, exploded with a bang.

BUSTED!

I could swear he got a little grin on his face.

And then again, he was very nice to me as he was bringing me to the office for selling pens at school that revealed a very unclothed woman when you flipped it right side up.

I wonder if you know who this is by my stories.

I know, I know.....there were a lot of students over the years.

But I was sort of an exceptionally horrible child at school some of the time.

Thanks for being my teacher, I'm sure it was challenging.

I apologize for any grief I may have caused you.

:)
