The Pokey Bush Is Acting Up!

This was just a typical plant that I brought up here from Southern California when we moved.   I gave most of my plants to my daughter, but The Pokey Bush" had a little spot in my heart.  When Rachel, my granddaughter was a wee tot, I used to swing her and that bush was close by and we used to play, "Watch Out For the Pokey Bush!"
This is actually an offspring of the original plant.  For seven years it just sat here being a plant.
I came out one morning and it had grown a protrusion.  Something like a century plant, only smaller.
Soon it was taller than I am.  I took it's photo every day.
Then yesterday it got these white flowers on it.
                            Here they are up close.
My garden is having a lot of fun this year.

Hi Lynn, I couldn't imagine what a pokey bush was. It is amazing looking flower and the blooms are something. I like going around and looking at all of the flowers because I definitely don't have a green thumb. Have a great week. A Missouri Friend.

Hi Lynn!

Is that an agave? Do they die back once they bloom? It sure is a nice specimen plant.

There are 'pokey bushes' all over here in the Palm Desert area... but not in my yard! I have kept all the spiny, pokey, thorny plants out of my yard because I am too afraid I will step or fall on one. Also don't want the dogs to get hurt.

Hi Lynn, Yay! Your Yucca is blooming. Ours are long gone now, I miss their beauty while they're blooming.
I can't get over the fact you have over a 100 quail in your yard, that is incredible. hugs ~lynne~

Yes we call it a Yucca but a Pokey bush is a better name.
