Funny Words

Is dictator the funniest word in the English language or is it just me?

This is H Allen Smith's List of:
The ten most beautiful sounding English words, according to people who don’t speak English:

Mother
Memory
Cellophane
Bellboy
Melancholy
Wilderness
Lavender
Belladonna
Flamingo
Tangerine

Honorable Mention
Cellar door
Cesspool

I don't have any information on who did this study but I think Mr. Smith should have pointed out some hilarious words, too, don't you?
I personally can not hear the word "Dictator" without giggling. If the situation calls for a certain level of somberness, my laughter quickly becomes uncontrollable.

Some words depend on the speaker.
Having children changes it all.
Apartment (first daughter)
Palm Tree (second daughter)
Vegetables (third daughter)
Octopus (my daycare kid)

I have an absolutely awful joke with the word dictates in it ...unfortunately I can't repeat it here. If your soc is 000-00-000 mine is 000-00-001.

Oops just reread your comment, mine is 000-00-0002. What can I say, dementia is creeping in.

I always thought the word danger sounded beautiful - - - I think it SOUNDS like a girl's name, but the meaning precludes using it as such.

I really wish your "free backgrounds" signee thing wouldn't cover up your blog titles!!! I always have to look at the title of your LAST post as soon as you post a NEW one because that little sign just hides your titles.

Sometimes titles are the best!!!!

Very funny and true, too! Dictator, HA HA.

Oh I do love words. Remember that old movie by Disney, I think it was Cinderella or Snow White, but don't really remember. It was where one of the Fairies (she was old...) was saying how she loved certain words, like "Elbow" - that thought has stayed with me all of this time.

Suddenly I can't think of a single one I love... humph.

One of my best friends in high school was girl named Wendy Woodcock, and oh boy did she suffer with that name. We still laugh at that one. She has since married, but I can't resist bringing it up every time I see her.
